A Well Deserved THANK YOU!!!

Jackie starts back at school tomorrow :(  without kids but still.... Summer is Over...
Kids all go back in next week....

I will do this a lot -- Until all of the Good Things I Wrote on Anything at Anytime are here.
They are What I have written and I want them all found in an many places as I can get them...
Because I Think they are Good and from the few comments I got there and then say the same thing.  You can Go to the old site and see the Original but Please don't comment there as I cant get into that site anymore and put the comments up... Comment here, I learned my lesson and Comments go straight up on the page when you post them....

This Post Particularly will be Posted EVERY Year just before School Starts so Teachers will know that Someone Appreciates what They DO for Us and Our Children - Our Children which ARE OUR FUTURE.... EVERYONE from Neil Armstrong to Presidents, General Laborers - aka Plumbers/Electricians/Painters/Mechanics etc..., ALL start in School.

So Please Comment and Leave Names of those you think fits what I wrote back then and still applies to today...

Enjoy and Think Back -- Remember One? or a Few?

Written Aug. 16th 2010
Anything at Anytime says Thank You!

Today's post may be short, or it may be long just depends on how much I can think of to Thank Many Hard working individuals.

As today is the first day back to work for my wife today - without students (that is next Monday), I would like to Thank Teachers.

Please understand this is for those Teachers that take an active interest in their students and their job.  There are some out there that just take the job as a job and don't try and don't care for anything but the paycheck.  I have seen them on my own and witnessed them walking down school halls.  Believe me when I say this - Students and People in general can tell a Teacher from a teacher.

For the Teachers out there that Really care for their students and are proud of their profession, I THANK YOU!

Thank You for:

  1. watching our kids day in and day out.
  2. making sure our kids have a safe place to go if they feel things aren't right or safe.
  3. Educating our children with all of the restrictions placed on you by state and federal regulations.
  4. Showing up to work every single day even though you feel like "crap".
  5. Dealing with those kids that just don't want to be away from "mommy" or "daddy".
  6. Having to put up with runny noses and scrapped knees.
  7. Making sure our children understand that with an education there are better things out there for us all.
  8. Putting up with those of us that are a challenge at times.
  9. and along with #8 having the Patients of Job
  10. Those Teachers that take their own money to ensure that those one or two students that don't have,  Have mysteriously.
  11. The Teachers that see a student not as a kid that they have to suffer with day in and day out but sees the child as a person that has human issues outside of school.
  12. finding whatever way it takes to get the student(s) too understand.  (even though I personally have always had issues with "to" and "too" :) )
  13. Standing up for and Noticing that it is not always One child's fault.
  14. Encouraging our children to try to do their best.
  15. helping our children realize they have more Potential than they think.
  16. finding that thing that makes each kid tick and helping them understand how what you are teaching applies to that - example: a kid likes rockets but is having difficulty in science, once the kid knows that science got the rocket going he/she pushes harder to learn more.
  17. opening the minds of our children.
  18. dealing with sore feet because of walking around the classroom all day.
  19. doing extra work at home in order to be prepared for the next day
  20. and Most Important of All:   Being a TEACHER that CARES.

If you see yourself in this List - Thanks from a father and a former student
If you don't see yourself on this list and want to be there find a Teacher at your school and ask them how you might be better.  Personally, my first suggestion would be to realize that you might learn something from your kids.  Education is a two way street.

If you are not a Teacher, but can think of a few send this to them or mention their names here.

Personally I have several:

My wife Jacqueline, Coach and American History Teacher Mike Graham,
Coach and Physics Brenda Railey, Coach and World History Tim Knowles,
English and GT Jacquita Lewter, Speech and Spanish Janet Hayes,
Coach and Phys Ed. Jimmy Arendt, Texas History and then Elementary Principle Charles Brown,
This list could go on and on because I was one of the Lucky ones that landed in a school district full of fabulous Teachers and got one Hell of an Education.

Again  THANK YOU !!!!  TEACHERS

July 25th 2010
Well, I was going to write a Poem today.
I got it all written and ready to type.  I re-read it and when done.....  Oh, God what a failure that was!
I did that......?  Ugh!

I sat and thought about what to write, what would be good for today?
I thought I had it and was going to make a farce of a fairy tale.  My Youngest did one about Jack and Jill, and she did a fantastic job.  I mean Awesome job!  So, if she can do it, Dad can do it.  Right?

WRONG!

Thinking a little longer I thought about how I could draw a comparison about how several of the fairy tales and Aesop's Fables all roll around Threes.
The Three Bears, The Billy Goats Gruff, The Three little Pigs, etc..... etc.......

That wouldn't work because then what do I do with The Ugly Duckling, The Pied Piper, Old Mother Hubbard, and on and on.

For some reason things do not want to fall into place.

I can't find the piece that fits today's puzzle.
I am stuck in the dark with no light to guide my path.
I have jumped a wall and lost my balance.
I cleaned my desk and lost my mind.
(all references to previous post *Hint* if you haven't read you might try 'em.)

Hmmmmm........  College Football to watch...Nope, to early, still have a little more than a month to go.
My Rangers?  No, that game isn't until later tonight.
I know Soccer (only interested during World Cup time).  Damn, World Cup is already over!

If I can't think of something soon I am going to get desperate.
If I get desperate I don't know what I will do.
It could be anything........ and "Anything" is scary!
          I shudder at the thought!

I have to do something so that I look busy.

Something has to come to mind.

Just a minute.
I have to look like I am typing and really, really involved in what I am doing and focused because She has just come into the room.

Damn, She is reading over my shoulder as I type.

Gig is UP!

Now I have to close as I am needed for assistance CLEANING the HOUSE.

Will be back later, I hope, if She doesn't find something else for me to DO!

#2 has changed a touch as Reyes (Never Earned the title of the position he held so WILL Not honor him with it here and Now) was voted out by his Party and Replaced by Someone that is actually trying to Change things for the better -- That is Congressman Beto O'Rourke - I actually got to speak to him yesterday at a Town Hall meeting.... He Listened.

#3 My communication skills with my Oldest Daughter.... So Damn Much like me in ways and I can NOT figure out how to get thru to her..... What my Father always told me surely holds True here "The Oldest is the Hardest, they are the ones you Make ALL the Mistakes with...."
Damned if He Wasn't Dead On!

#7 has changed as well,
That actually Happened this morning - again with my Wife, dealing with my Listening -- Needless to say I Lost...

Anything at Anytime (or I did) got Tagged.

As I am a Neophyte blogger I understand tagging as means for other Bloggers and our readers wanting to Know a little bit more about the One(s) tagged.

I have been blogging on this here site with anything that comes to my mind.

Well, Amber (a friend from one of the forums I visit) has been a boon to me and to several other Neophyte bloggers and the other day she Tagged me.  If you get a chance and like to hear things Straight (no BS) check this lady and her blog out.

On to the Tagging Process:

When Tagged I was given 8 questions to answer about myself.

1. Who is your favorite musician/band and why?

To be honest I have multiple types I like and could call favorites for different reasons.  The phase I am going through right now has me listening to a mix; Pink Floyd, Enya, and The Eagles.  The reason behind this mixture - my daughters got me the cds for Father's Day and putting them all on the computer and fiddling around with the mix has really opened up some of my creative whatever you want to call it here at Anything at Anytime.  They were fantastic gifts at just the right time and for that - They just may take the Title Favorites.

2. What celebrity annoys you the most and why?

Boy, this one is a hard question!  I could Blast our Congressman here in El Paso Cong. Silvestre Reyes - but I don't want to make this or this site appear Political.  They (all Politicians) have royal bent us all over.

Another reason this is hard is because I firmly believe that everyone, celebrities included, deserves their own personal life without Judgement from Anyone else.  See, Celebrities have it tough in this sense: Every Single Little Thing they do is under a Media Microscope.  Imagine it is you or me Under that Microscope.  No doubt about it We are going to screw up somehow, someway.  We Can't escape it.  Just as an easy example: What happens to us, any of us, when a Cop pulls in behind us in traffic and just stays there?  He didn't like your haircut but he can't pull you over for that.  Soooooooo, He pulls in behind you and stays there until you forget a blinker to change lanes, or you slow down to much to let him pass, or you push the gas just a little more in your nervousness.  No matter what He has you.
The Media does that to Celebrities enough, I don't need to jump on that bandwagon.

3. What has been your biggest letdown lately?

Personal letdown or Somebody let me down?
I will go with a Personal Letdown - This is an ongoing Letdown.  Since being diagnosed with LS Emphysema and on Oxygen 24/7 I, Me, the Man of the house, the Husband, the Father, have/has not been able to provide for his/My Family.  Even with a "valid" reason it is still a Giant Pill to swallow.

4. Worse job you have ever had and why?

How about a Combination of Best and Worst Job I have had and why?
I had been Unemployed for several months and had just bought a house and was desperate for work.  Now I am a believer in Christ, Not one that prays every single day and my faith is a mixture of what I have seen over the years but I was so Desperate for work.  One night I broke down and got on my knees and prayed that God give me a Job, any Job - shoveling Shit if that was all I could get, Just give me ANYTHING.

***Careful what you pray for!

My wife called me the next day that her brother had a friend that was willing to hire me if I could be back in El Paso by 7am the next day.  Hell, I was packed and back in El Paso by 11:30 that night.  The next morning I was at the office/warehouse of A.R.C. Electric here in El Paso.  My very first job was a TEST to see if I was willing to "WORK".  I was up in the mountains digging a ditch with a pick axe and trenching shovel, Nothing but Rocks and Boulders!!!! They all figured I would quit that day.  They all figured I would Quit by the end of the week.  Not a Chance in Hell!  I asked for it, I DID IT!
It was the worst job because I ended up being a prep man doing that kind of stuff ALL of the time.  Talk about Dead Tired!  Sore!  Just Beat to Death!
But it was the Best Job because it put me back with my family and I ended up with a great boss.  The Owner/boss was/is a fair man and gives everyone a chance and a break.  He had no reason to take me on but he did and gave me fair starting wages and when he didn't hear me "Bitchin" about always getting the crap jobs, I received a fair raise.
So, Best and Worst.

6. Guilty pleasures? Spill.

Hmmmmmmm...........anything?
It used to be Golf, being here in El Paso allows for Golf almost year round.  Since I get to tired to walk the course anymore...... Well, I have had to shift gears.
But A Truly guilty Pleasure is my wife and kids Coughin up the Big TV for me to Watch my NEBRASKA CORNHUSKERS anytime during College Football season, which by the way is about a month and a half away!
They load me up: Sodas, chips, dip (guacamole).  Then they give me all the space to cheer, shout, hoot and holler to my hearts content.

7. The last argument you had with someone - what was it about?

Getting my wife a new cell phone.  She didn't want to "Waste" the money on a new phone.  For some reason we went to war over that for about three days.  She got the phone but I lost the war.

8. What would be something you would NEVER do, even if someone paid you a shit ton of money?

Easy!  Kill myself.  I have way to much to live for and even on the worst days you can find a glimmer of light and hope SOMEWHERE!

There are my questions and answers to being TAGGED.

Now, I Tag you the readers of this article - Pick one of those questions above and answer it in the comments section and be Honest about it.

Now, Your IT!

Anything at Anytime would like to introduce you to My Prize Dragon - Heartfelt.

Heartfelt has been with me now since just before I left for Bosnia.

J and I had recently gotten engaged and she knew of my "Love" for Dragons.  My Birthday, Christmas, and departure to Bosnia were fast approaching and she wanted to get me something before we (my unit) left for Bosnia.

She could Not have found a better Dragon to get me!

His Coloring is Brilliant and Fantastic to behold.  Purples and Blues that just grab your attention when you notice him.

Like any Dragon, with age comes bumps and bruises.  His just tend to happen as things happen to me.  Odd That! but it is true.

Heartfelt, when he came to me did not have a name.  It took all of two minutes seeing him to Know his name.  If you look at his chest you will notice a row of three light blue colored scales down the center of his chest.  All three have the shape of Hearts.

Taking this Scale shape and the fact that the Woman I was to marry found him and acquired him for my collection...... Well, 1+1 =2 right?  Heartfelt was the only name he could have.

Heartfelt has a unique quality.  No matter where you are in a room his eyes follow you.  He is constantly watching over everything and everyone in the home.  He resides over my entire collection of Dragons.  His size in comparison to some of my other Dragons is small; however, his Stature and Poise is much Greater.

I have come to learn that the 3 hearts in his chest represent my 3 girls (J,D and E).  He wears them as Armor because of the purity of heart they represent.  With them he can and will continue on, no matter the situation and circumstances.

Anyway,  I just wanted to Introduce you all to Heartfelt as I have not done so and as My Birthday and Christmas approach again, I felt it only fitting that a Gift such as he be acknowledged brought forth to Shine.

P.S. Please forgive the Pictures as Heartfelt and Snuggles are in a Conspiracy against Pictures.  They hate cameras and it is hard to get them to stay still for good shots.  At least I was able to get these without TO MUCH Trouble.

I could have been Tiger Woods before Tiger....

original on Anything at Anytime -
Thought this is a good one to share from the Old site so....  Here is something to wet your whistle...
Hope you all Enjoy

When I was younger, much, much younger, my parents got me a golf set so that I could learn to play and play with my father out on the golf course when I got bigger and better (basically so he could have a golf partner).
I tinkered, I tonked, I dinked and of course I donked all over the place with those clubs (at least I did in my own mind ).

So I set the stage properly here, you must understand that back in the day (yes, I am old enough I can use that phrase without causing myself mental harm) kiddie sets were real clubs with steel shafts and maybe a touch larger head on the club, not the plastic things you see on the shelves.  Come to think of it the very thing that I am about to tell you may have resulted in that change.

I have been told over the years, from various people that knew me then (my parents and a few others), that I looked like I had the talent to play golf.  Having played it in my adult years I would have to say that had I kept up with it I might have been good.

We (you and I ) will never know now!

I (as I am sure most of you) have cousins that are a blast to be around and sometimes can just get a tad bit rowdy with when we all get together (even today in our 40s).  We would play tackle football and tackle tag and tackle whatever just to be clobbering each other.  Some of the best tackle whatevers took place at Grandma and Grandpa's house during the Winter in the snow. A story for another day.

This is not one of those occasions.  I apparently always took my golf set with me no matter where we went so that I could hit the balls and imagine myself out on the course playing a round and besting my Dad in whatever tournament we played.  On one of these occasions (trips) I took my clubs and my cousins Jeff and Ricky and their family were there as well.

So, it ended up that my cousins and myself and my younger brother Donald (Don since he graduated from college, but still Donald to me) were doing our usual beat each other to a pulp rough housing and things got heated.
(We are talking 30+ years so I will not say with a certainty exactly who or how things got to this point.  If my brother Donald or my cousins Jeff or Ricky would like to put in there 2 cents I will more than willingly post it as it will add to the flavor and the memories of us all.)

Somehow my clubs got involved and my cousin Jeff was chasing us all around like he was going to chop us all up with a sword.  You remember those days, when you played Cowboys and Indians and soldiers or pretended to be your favorite hero?  If not, take a moment and think back really try and remember.  I bet you can find a few times where you did that.

Anyway, back to the recollection.

Jeff is chasing us all around and waving one of my clubs like it is a sword and he caught his brother Ricky with a mighty blow.  A blow that would have slayed one of the Dragons on my Dragon page with not another strike needed!  Everything stopped dead in its tracks as Blood began to show itself on Ricky's head.  You can all imagine what happened next.

Parents being parents, my clubs (Jeff's imaginary swords) quickly found their way to the local dump never to be found again.  Looking back at that incident and knowing my Aunt and Uncle and My Parents, they all called the company(ies) that make those kind of things and demanded for safety's sake that they make play clubs from a collapsible plastic from that time forth.  Apparently it worked because that is all they make like that now.

Well, my clubs were gone.  My dream of slaughtering the competition dashed before I was 10.

Why cruel world destroy the hopes of future golf by destroying The Dragon (I would have chosen that nick name over The Shark, The Walrus, Tiger (but that is his name), etc...... you get the drift)

I look back at it now and can see myself, The Dragon, walking down the 18th of St. Andrews on the final day in a tie with Chi Chi Rodriguez (and his flourishing sword buckling style with his clubs) for 1st and the British Open Title.  Who would win, the sword wielding long putter of Chi Chi Rodriguez or the Monster Fire Breathing Charge of The Dragon?
We will never know now!

My Clubs were forgotten in a matter of weeks and I soon received a book about Space and Astronauts.

I Know!!!!!!

I Can be the Neil Armstrong of My Daughters' Generation!!!!!!!!!!

My Wife - My True Muse

original on Anything at Anytime -
(added to title and few small things)

I wrote this awhile back but never posted it and as of this morning things haven't changed from my writing it so I am posting it today.

My Wife woke me with a cup of coffee at 7 am this morning.  Nothing new, nothing special, just because.

One of these days I would like to beat her to the punch.  That isn't going to happen anytime soon as she has a sixth sense.  She has something like a motion detector built in.  The moment I move to sit up or get out of bed she is wide awake.
Her motion detector has an automatic timer too.  If I get out of bed between 11 pm and 3:30 am - nothing, she is still out like a light but make it 3:31 am and "BANG" eyes wide open and alert.

I used to be like that when I was in the service.
Anyway, this is about my wife not me, about her always beating me up in the mornings and what she does with her days.

She has to be either "Wonder Woman" or "Super Girl" in disguise.

I Swear! Think about these things:

  1. She never worries about herself, only others
  2. She has an internal motion detector
  3. an internal alarm clock - she is up and running before the alarm at 4 am every day
  4. She appears to have an endless supply of energy
  5. Her timing is Perfect, when she does something it is always at "Just the right time" Exactly when it is needed.
  6. without being told she knows when one of us needs something, or anything.
  7. (7 and on added for update to AA...A ) She Inspires me to continue to do the best I can simply by being Who She Is.
  8. Her students are "Her" kids.... no Joke - don't mess with "Her" babies.... Mother Lion and Mother Bear don't even burn a candle next to Her Fire...  SHE is a Dragon (and remember I collect them).
  9. She makes Magic with the Finances - even when we are down to pennies She can Make it work.
  10. The List has just gotten longer over the years and I can go on but don't want others to feel that they can't meet the "standard" she has set.

Those are just a few of the many reasons I look at her that way.  I have not seen a "cape" or "lasso", but does she need them?  She would probably laugh and ask "What did she need them for?"

She is everywhere at a moments notice:
with me,
the girls,
her students,
her parents (both hers and the parents of her students),
relatives,
and
friends,
and yet, I have never heard her say "What about me?".

Now, I have heard "I need a break".  After all of what she does..... I say she has earned it a 100 times over and then some.  With all that she does she could easily go with a title such as "Super Girl" or "Wonder Woman" or any of those other comic book heroines.
But she doesn't, She chooses Three titles more than any others:

Daughter,
Mom,
and my Wife.

All of that and I didn't even mention how she handles my being sick all the time.

I am lucky to have someone like that in my life!

I hope you all have a good day and that your week has gone well

Danny

P.S.  more than 2 years later and it all still stands even added to the list but just a bit..... She is All that and SOOOOO Much More --- The LOVE of My Life
She Inspires Much of what I write -- My Best Work Comes from thinking of Her.
I Thank God Every Single Day for putting Her in My Life..... A True Blessing I have Received

Stories Read (aka - Pages)
