Enjoy and Think Back -- Remember One? or a Few?

Anything at Anytime says Thank You!

Today's post may be short, or it may be long just depends on how much I can think of to Thank Many Hard working individuals.

As today is the first day back to work for my wife today - without students (that is next Monday), I would like to Thank Teachers.

Please understand this is for those Teachers that take an active interest in their students and their job.  There are some out there that just take the job as a job and don't try and don't care for anything but the paycheck.  I have seen them on my own and witnessed them walking down school halls.  Believe me when I say this - Students and People in general can tell a Teacher from a teacher.

For the Teachers out there that Really care for their students and are proud of their profession, I THANK YOU!

Thank You for:

  1. watching our kids day in and day out.
  2. making sure our kids have a safe place to go if they feel things aren't right or safe.
  3. Educating our children with all of the restrictions placed on you by state and federal regulations.
  4. Showing up to work every single day even though you feel like "crap".
  5. Dealing with those kids that just don't want to be away from "mommy" or "daddy".
  6. Having to put up with runny noses and scrapped knees.
  7. Making sure our children understand that with an education there are better things out there for us all.
  8. Putting up with those of us that are a challenge at times.
  9. and along with #8 having the Patients of Job
  10. Those Teachers that take their own money to ensure that those one or two students that don't have,  Have mysteriously.
  11. The Teachers that see a student not as a kid that they have to suffer with day in and day out but sees the child as a person that has human issues outside of school.
  12. finding whatever way it takes to get the student(s) too understand.  (even though I personally have always had issues with "to" and "too" :) )
  13. Standing up for and Noticing that it is not always One child's fault.
  14. Encouraging our children to try to do their best.
  15. helping our children realize they have more Potential than they think.
  16. finding that thing that makes each kid tick and helping them understand how what you are teaching applies to that - example: a kid likes rockets but is having difficulty in science, once the kid knows that science got the rocket going he/she pushes harder to learn more.
  17. opening the minds of our children.
  18. dealing with sore feet because of walking around the classroom all day.
  19. doing extra work at home in order to be prepared for the next day
  20. and Most Important of All:   Being a TEACHER that CARES.

If you see yourself in this List - Thanks from a father and a former student
If you don't see yourself on this list and want to be there find a Teacher at your school and ask them how you might be better.  Personally, my first suggestion would be to realize that you might learn something from your kids.  Education is a two way street.

If you are not a Teacher, but can think of a few send this to them or mention their names here.

Personally I have several:

My wife Jacqueline, Coach and American History Teacher Mike Graham,
Coach and Physics Brenda Railey, Coach and World History Tim Knowles,
English and GT Jacquita Lewter, Speech and Spanish Janet Hayes,
Coach and Phys Ed. Jimmy Arendt, Texas History and then Elementary Principle Charles Brown,
This list could go on and on because I was one of the Lucky ones that landed in a school district full of fabulous Teachers and got one Hell of an Education.

Again  THANK YOU !!!!  TEACHERS

The "Quill"

Today July 17th 2015

I have been negligent in writing as Many, Many things have been going on in my life.
If you go to the old site and read the comments on this you will see the true acknowledgement for this Short belongs to my Muse - My Wife....
She had done, or been in some class or other for ideas to help her students get into writing and reading and they were to use an (Every day) item to write about and she wasn't sure what it would look like or how to do it with 2nd Graders... So I gave it a shot and this is the Resulting effort...
So Thanks to my Wife for a Great Idea that I think is One of my Better Quick off the hip attempts.
Hope you all Enjoy

Hint -- there is a Follow up to this story that actually pertains to today and Every day with our Government and a Relation that I did not Know about Until a short time after this was written...
Sort of Tripped me out when I heard it and lead in a New direction...
So for that tid bit I will Thank my Mom and you can read it as well,
it will be the next post and that will be up in just a few minutes.

Before I start today's post I must say yesterday's post was not a part of my better work but it was needed in order to set up future post so you as my reader(s) can understand where some of these things come from.

Now, as for today's post, honestly I was laying in bed right after my wife woke me and wondering what I was going to write today and saw an ad on TV (don't know what ad triggered this) and this just hit me as something that would be Good to write.

The "Quill"

Today seems to be a busy day.  There have been men scuttling back and forth between rooms with raised voices and yelling at each other and some guy named George.  Really, it has been this way for awhile now.  The Yelling has gotten louder as the days progress one into the next.

Several men have been huddled together muttering and talking in the other room for days writing and scribbling something.  I'm not sure but I think that and this guy named George really has everyone here on edge.  Men keep going over to the group and asking things like "Where are you now?" and "How is it going?" or making statements like "Do not forget when they........", or "Remember when ........".

All of these men have been here for days debating and discussing what that small group of men is over there writing.  It must be important.  I just wish I knew what they were talking about and doing.  It is hard for me to get into and understand these things as I am just a lowly scribe instrument.

I have sat here on the shelf with many others like myself and as the days go on more and more of us have been taken off of the shelf and used by these men, us and the bottles of ink below us.

Today there seems to be a, what did that guy Ben call it.........static, that is it, static in the air.  A feeling of trepidatious giddiness.  A feeling of action and..............

Oh, wait a minute.

They are calling all of the men into the main room.

Someone is approaching the shelves again and they take one of the bottles of ink away from the shelf and turns to go back, ooopp, he forgot something and reaches to our shelf.

The man picked me off of the shelf!  I finally get to be used for my purpose to write.  Thank You mister for taking me from the shelf.

The man takes me and places myself and the bottle on a small desk with several papers with a bunch of chicken scratch on them and One Parchment that has orderly writing from top to bottom.  Some large writing up at the top and little writing filling the rest of the page below it except for about the bottom third of the page.

Here I will read you what I can from my vantage point.

In Congres.........

How Rude!

Just as I was starting to read it the guy that brought me in here takes the paper away so I can not see it any more.   Well, it looks as if he is going to read it to everyone so hold on for just a moment.

"In Congress, July 4th, 1776               The unanimous Declaration of the thirteen united States of America,

When in the Course of human events,..............."  Oh, great something about human events.  Now that is something is it not.  He reads on and as he reads there are Great choruses and shouts of "Here, Here!" and things like;  "It is about time!", "We should have done this sooner!", "This will get his Attention!" and many many more that some I may not repeat as those were very ungentlemanly.

He is done reading and places the paper back beside me.  All of the men in the room are lining up at the table and a hand approaches me, picks me up and dips me in the bottle of ink and signs his name.  His name, Button Gwinnett.

Ten times this happens in an orderly neat fashion and then another man comes up and takes me to hand, dipping me into the ink and swirling me around and then in large bold writing puts his name and says something like, "He will not need his glasses to Read That!" (forgive me, it has been a long, long time so I may not have quoted it exactly but if that is not it, it is very near what was said).

His name I do recall was John Hancock.

The signing goes on and on until the last (a total of 56 men use me to sign), a gentleman by the name of  Matthew Thornton.

As Mr. Thornton rises from the table the room explodes in cheers and clapping.

In the beginning I did not fully comprehend what I was used for but over the decades into centuries........

THIS is what I was used for:

                                                       The Declaration of Independence

So I can say I Truly was used for something GREAT!

My Wife - My True Muse

original on Anything at Anytime -
(added to title and few small things)

I wrote this awhile back but never posted it and as of this morning things haven't changed from my writing it so I am posting it today.

My Wife woke me with a cup of coffee at 7 am this morning.  Nothing new, nothing special, just because.

One of these days I would like to beat her to the punch.  That isn't going to happen anytime soon as she has a sixth sense.  She has something like a motion detector built in.  The moment I move to sit up or get out of bed she is wide awake.
Her motion detector has an automatic timer too.  If I get out of bed between 11 pm and 3:30 am - nothing, she is still out like a light but make it 3:31 am and "BANG" eyes wide open and alert.

I used to be like that when I was in the service.
Anyway, this is about my wife not me, about her always beating me up in the mornings and what she does with her days.

She has to be either "Wonder Woman" or "Super Girl" in disguise.

I Swear! Think about these things:

  1. She never worries about herself, only others
  2. She has an internal motion detector
  3. an internal alarm clock - she is up and running before the alarm at 4 am every day
  4. She appears to have an endless supply of energy
  5. Her timing is Perfect, when she does something it is always at "Just the right time" Exactly when it is needed.
  6. without being told she knows when one of us needs something, or anything.
  7. (7 and on added for update to AA...A ) She Inspires me to continue to do the best I can simply by being Who She Is.
  8. Her students are "Her" kids.... no Joke - don't mess with "Her" babies.... Mother Lion and Mother Bear don't even burn a candle next to Her Fire...  SHE is a Dragon (and remember I collect them).
  9. She makes Magic with the Finances - even when we are down to pennies She can Make it work.
  10. The List has just gotten longer over the years and I can go on but don't want others to feel that they can't meet the "standard" she has set.

Those are just a few of the many reasons I look at her that way.  I have not seen a "cape" or "lasso", but does she need them?  She would probably laugh and ask "What did she need them for?"

She is everywhere at a moments notice:
with me,
the girls,
her students,
her parents (both hers and the parents of her students),
relatives,
and
friends,
and yet, I have never heard her say "What about me?".

Now, I have heard "I need a break".  After all of what she does..... I say she has earned it a 100 times over and then some.  With all that she does she could easily go with a title such as "Super Girl" or "Wonder Woman" or any of those other comic book heroines.
But she doesn't, She chooses Three titles more than any others:

Daughter,
Mom,
and my Wife.

All of that and I didn't even mention how she handles my being sick all the time.

I am lucky to have someone like that in my life!

I hope you all have a good day and that your week has gone well

Danny

P.S.  more than 2 years later and it all still stands even added to the list but just a bit..... She is All that and SOOOOO Much More --- The LOVE of My Life
She Inspires Much of what I write -- My Best Work Comes from thinking of Her.
I Thank God Every Single Day for putting Her in My Life..... A True Blessing I have Received
